Philadelphia, PA
The Journey’s Way Activity Center is the second major project Flatiron Building Company has completed for Intercommunity Action. This project included the renovation of an 1890 church structure, a 1920, 2-story brick warehouse and a 1950’s classroom building into a 14,000 square foot senior center.
The project scope included: a commercial kitchen, doctor’s office, activities areas, gym, computer room, staff offices, canopies, structural repairs and a ADA connecting link between buildings.
The installation of a new elevator and ADA ramps met handicap accessible requirements. A new 4 pipe fan coil HVAC system and a new electrical system were installed throughout the existing structures which presented significant challenges.
Coordination with the neighborhood group was essential to ensure that the local residents experienced minimal disruptions.
