Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support

Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA

The Kinney Center provides autism education and research opportunities. Flatiron performed interior renovations to a second floor space, including an exterior balcony and egress stair. The fast-track project was completed in under 8 weeks.

The scope of work included selective demolition of masonry walls, rough carpentry, metal framing, architectural woodwork, drywall, acoustical ceilings, wall padding, ceramic tile, projection screens, and window treatments. Mechanical work included three new ADA-compliant toilet rooms and the replacement of original HVAC equipment and ductwork with new steel dunnage and rooftop units. The project featured an aluminum-framed glass wall partition and customized audio-visual system with touch-screen monitors, cameras, and a projection system for autistic children.
